Alastair Crooke — Khashoggi’s Murder – At the Complex Intersection of Three Points of Inflection

Good backgrounder on the current state of the snake pit.
Khashoggi is hailed in the West as a liberal, favouring democratic reform, but in fact, he was a staunch supporter of the monarchical system (of which MbS is the effective head). He contended however, that all these monarchies were “reformable”. Only the secular republics, he suggested (such as Iraq, Syria and Libya) were unreformable, and required to be overthrown. Where he fell out with MbS therefore, was that he favoured not a turn to secularism or western-style ‘liberalism’, but a reforming Islamisation of Arab politics along Muslim Brotherhood lines – just like Erdogan, in fact....

“Only the secular republics, Khashoggi suggested (such as Iraq, Syria and Libya) were unreformable, and needed to be overthrown.”

This means that Khashoggi favored the Western / Israeli /Saudi campaign to destroy Iraq, Syria and Libya. No wonder Washington DC loved Khashoggi. Good riddance.

Incidentally the CIA founded the Muslim Brotherhood as part of a Western-backed Islamist campaign to foil the secular (and socialist) Arab nationalist movement of the late 1950s to the late 1960s. The CIA’s (and the Muslim Brotherhood’s) main target was the United Arab Republic, consisting of a unified Syria and Egypt which, along with Libya, was allied with the USSR. The link between Syria and Egypt remained fairly strong until Sept 1978 when Egyptian president Anwar Sadat signed a peace treaty with Israel.

The Muslim Brotherhood, al-Qaeda, ISIS, White Helmets™ and so on are all tools of the Western / Saudi / Israeli Empire. At various times and places, the Empire supports them as needed, and crushes them as needed.

It seems as if the deep state is pissed because MBS killed one of theirs.
