It appears Russians have been denied complete victory. Turkey dropped their objections to Finland joining nato. Ukraine is more important than Finland, but still the alliance advances further onto Russia's borders so unless Russia goes to war with Finland, no matter how Ukraine turns out now, Russia takes a geopolitical loss.
Count on Erdogan to get his quid pro quo.
