"Socialism."
While Iain Murray presents an ideologically biased argument agains the GND and MMT, he brings up points that need to be addressed for popular consumption, since it is likely that many people think this way.
The GND is not a proposal but an idea for a proposal. A lot of things need to be spelled out that aren't yet. In fact, it is probably not possible to do so at this point, at least comprehensively, since significant pieces are lacking and need to be modeled, developed, discovered, or invented.
This is a huge challenge and throwing money at it can't solve it. This impression should be avoided in arguing that affordability in not an issue for currency sovereigns. Reconfiguration of the use of real resources is required, and this also will require institutional change and a shift in cultures globally.

Progressives have been sounding the alarm bells for over a decade that the end is nigh.
Why aren't there already several competing proposals in existence that have been "modeled, developed, discovered, or invented."

Because at the same time the right has been shouting “there is no money” , thus we can’t afford anything including competing proposals.
And if there are proposals, modeled, developed, discovered, invented etc. out there they are effectively silenced by corporate media.
MMT (and history) destroys the fiction of "we can't afford it". As far as changing behaviors, that's what the reward/penalty system of taxes is supposed to be for. Tax bad behavior out of existence.
Now all we have to do is agree on what bad behavior is. Buying politicians and legislation? Pollution? The manufacture of weapons? Abusing laborers? Accumulating wealth?
Like that Chris Rock bit on ending gun violence: make bullets cost $5,000 each.
"I'd pop a cap in your ass but I gotta go get a second job first."
Wow, he got shot twice! Somebody was really pissed.
My current opinion is that technology is not the answer. In fact, we have to yoke technology so that we are not destroyed by our creations. As MMT says, the problems is not financial affordability but rather real resource constraints.
AOC put her boyfriend on the US House email server... scandalous for the media. Just what MMT needs.
There is no money.
We can't afford it.
It's authoritarian, which means political oppression, and, as the result of the "socialist calculation problem", it also means poverty and ecocide.
It's a solution in need of a problem. In fact, fiat money and "progressive" politics are THE ghastly and horrible problems that mankind must fight and defeat to save civilization.
Let's not mince words here. Libertarians and Austrians consider socialists, MMTers, fiat money proponents and "progressives" to be the biggest danger to continued human life on earth and civilization itself. We consider it very likely that these "green" proposals if enacted will result in Pol Pot II. You guys ARE the problem and it's our mission to explain that to the public.
Mises was right the first time in 1922 about socialism and "progressives" have always been too cowardly to engage and refute him.
There is no money.
We can't afford it.
Hahahahahahaha
”Pol Pot II.”
Bob Roddis should stop smoking that pot.
