Kristen Breitweiser: Trump Lets Saudis Off on 9/11 Evidence

Afghanistan got flattened just to get Bin Laden and his group who lived in the mountains. Most afghans had no idea why the US was bombing them. The US had no evidence that Bin Laden was responsible for 9/11. This is from a BBC site:

On 7 October the first air strikes began. One week into the military campaign the Taliban made a further failed plea for negotiations. Afghanistan's deputy prime minister Maulvi Abdul Kabir told reporters in Jalalabad that the Taliban would hand over Bin Laden if the US stopped bombing Afghanistan.
Bush and Blair stand firm
The US remained resolute in its refusal to negotiate. Bush told reporters on the White House lawn: "This is non-negotiable. There is no need to discuss innocence or guilt; we know he's guilty. Turn him over. If they want us to stop our military operations they've just got to meet my conditions."

But perhaps what many — including President Trump and his advisers — might not know about Saudi Arabia is the information surrounding the capture and interrogation of Al Qaeda’s Abu Zubaydah, who currently remains in custody at the Guantanamo Bay prison. I’d like to share some of that information — chronicled in Gerald Posner’s Why America Slept: The Failure to Prevent 9/11 — with the hope that learning this information might further crystalize why the 9/11 families are so driven to hold the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia accountable for its alleged role in the 9/11 attacks.
At the time, U.S. intelligence decided to play a trick on Zubaydah. This trick entailed leading Zubaydah to believe that the U.S. was ready to hand him over to Saudi intelligence officials for further (even more severe) interrogation since Zubaydah wasn’t “fully cooperating” with U.S. interrogators.
What happens next is what few people know. When “handed over to the Saudis” (who were really just U.S. intelligence agents pretending to be Saudi intelligence), Zubaydah was actually relieved and started demanding to talk to his contact within Saudi intelligence — in addition to several members of the Saudi Royal Family.
Upon further questioning by his “Saudi interrogators,” Zubaydah raised his voice and unleashed a “torrent of information that one investigator refers to as the Rosetta Stone of 9/11” or what he claimed was his work for senior Saudi and Pakistani officials
Of course, the Saudis denied all the information, secret deals, and connections put forth by Zubaydah. Soon thereafter, interestingly (and rather unfortunately), all of the individuals named by Zubaydah during his interrogation turned up dead — except, of course, Prince Turki who was removed from his post as head of Saudi intelligence and named as Saudi Ambassador to Britain.

By any reasonable historical comparison Afghanistan got off easy.... really the entire MENA got off easy..... left and cuck right running this war....

You have to look at what the policy is of the seated government... not what may or may not have been going on within the nation's territorial boundaries...

What is the official policy?

This is no guarantee that the seated govt will then be competent.... see Syria at present Assad being operated against for incompetence....

Yes, but "we" (US) are supposed to be "better than that."

When the US is not better than that, soft power eroded and more hard power is needed to achieve objectives. It's a self-augmenting process. And now the US is sinking into the pit of history where empire go to die.

Secular Syria has been under attack by Saudi and Qatari sponsored militants aided by the CIA for years. Israel has actively been opposed to the Assad regime forever as a link in the Shia crescent that links Iran and Hezbollah, which prevent Israel from dominating Lebanon.

Assad can’t be that incompetence to have resisted the powerful forces aligned against him that are backed by the US and traditional Middle Eastern meddlers Britain and France.

Maybe try Dresden/Hamburg.... Hiroshima/Nagasaki....

"What historical comparison would that be? The Holocaust? Pol Pot's Cambodia? "

You're making my point here.... they got off easy.... could have been much worse....

You don't go to war against religion you go to war against nations...

All of these nations allow terrorists to operate within their territory with impunity so therefore the governments of those nations are going to be operated against or directly attacked militarily... this is not rocket science it has worked this way for entire human history...

"blowback"

It's not blowback they are on the other side...

You have on the one side the gulf states trying to get more fossil fuel product up into fertile Europe in exchange for food... and on the other side they are trying to prevent this to starve them out.... we are allied with the side trying to get the food...

Matt Franko said...

And the one side (Iran) is trying to starve the other out for reasons of religious authority...

His time ran out Tom.... you have to meet the schedule or you're fired...

Much more harsh.... "if they don't listen, just kill 'em... "

Who is going to fire him? The rebels? They are getting their asses kicked. The US-backed Kurds? All they want is a Kurdistan which is anathema to Turkey. That leaves it up to the "coalition." Which has to"work with" Russia or fight it. Are the America people up for thousands of US boots on the ground in the ME again?

Zero evidence for this. Did Germany allow the 9/11 terrorists "to operate within their territory with impunity"?

The only terrorist group to have attacked the US is Al Qaeda. The Afghans had no idea what Bin Laden and his whack jobs were up, just in the same way Germany didn't. Did the US allow "terrorists to operate within their territory with impunity"? Some of the 9/11 terrorists did their flight training at a school in Florida. Similarly, with the UK and the recent terror attack.

Yes, states go to war with other guilty states, not innocent ones who haven't the foggiest idea that terrorists are meeting and organising in their territory.

Anyway, all of this is total bullshit while the US is joined at the hip to the reactionary jihadi Gulf petro-states. If you want someone to blame, look to Washington and their mad proxy wars using jihadis. After all, nobody denies the truth of the Defence Intelligence Agency's top secret report which details the US and Gulf states plan to partition and create a Salafi jihadi state within Syria. The highest levels in government admit that they want to create a jihadi state and your reaction is that the states who are the victims of this US-Saudi Salafi jiahdi creation should face Dresden-style saturation bombing! This is the same logic that Salafis have to rape victims: the raped woman has had a sexual act outside marriage and should be stoned to death.

Brash talk isn't a strategy. Dubya had it, and the military mutinied because the kind of "strategy" that follows in the wake of simpleminded and knee-jerk decisions is counterproductive and breaks your own armed forces in the process. The obese paedophile fraudster is also a simpleton: who knew health care could be so difficult?! China's premier had to explain the difficulties with respect to North Korea?! Etc, etc...

This is key.

For example, Hitler had the good sense to separate the regular military from the "punitive" paramilitaries like the SS. Otherwise the regular military — people with a conscience — will get disgusted.

Something similar is now taking place in Ukraine.

The US uses special forces. I was talking to friend who was a former special ops type. I asked him why he left. He said one day her realized that he was killing people and they had wives and children. He got disgusted with it and didn't re-up.

I had a similar experience when I was serving during the Vietnam Conflict although being in the navy I was not directly involved, even though operating in the area. But we were supporting it.

Mattis has gone in anyway. Trump is reversing Obama's policy of only using covert ops. Now the US military is increasingly involved within Syria, constituting a violation of international law of the most serious type — international aggression.

Trump and Mattis and their cronies an minions join Bush, Cheney, Obama, and their cronies an minions as war criminals.

They are setting up safe zones Tom with hard boundaries... come near those boundaries and they kill you... it's going to get a lot more harsh under Trump...

Without UN authorization, it is illegal aggression, the most serious war crime.

Those "safe zone" are meant to partition Syria, a sovereign nation, against its will.

Let's cut the BS, and call a spade a spade.

Tom Hickey said...

Well that is how you end up with Dresden/Hamburg... we are faaaaaaaaaarrrrr from that type of condition with the Muslim world... they would have to go full on WMD type attack and then maybe we would get there...

Matt, you seem to be unaware of the devastation in Afghanistan and Iraq. In Iraq, the city of Mosul was flattened, for example. Millions of people have been displaced.

Vietnam was also not only destroyed but the ground was also poisoned with Agent Orange.

The US leadership was infuriated that they couldn't defeat a bunch of ragtag guerrillas in pajamas. So they kept upping the ante, not only in Vietnam but also Laos and Cambodia. These were terrible crimes against humanity. And

Irrelevant. Deep state, baby. And Trump has been consumed by it. He's all in BIGLY, as shown by his decision to bomb Syria's armed forces and thereby strengthen the jihadi forces, and worse still by his demented decision to make Iran an enemy.

Has there ever been a more disturbing sight in modern history than standing by the King of Saudi Arabia and claiming that Iran is the number one supporter of terrorism? Utterly obscene, and we know Trump thought the exact opposite not so long ago. Like every president before him, Trump is a danger to mankind by siding with the jihadis against the secularists. Jihadis should be killed, not aided. There is no chance now that this blustering clown won't start some insane war and aid the jihadis.
