Zero Hedge — Here Are The 66 Programs That Trump's Budget Eliminates

President Trump's fiscal 2018 budget proposal would completely eliminate 66 federal programs, for a savings of $26.7 billion. [emphasis added]
Got that? 26.7 billion in savings!

Just what a sovereign currency issuer needs, right? (snark)

It'll be interesting to see how the Dems fight this thinking:
a) the deficit is not an issue.
b) the deficit is an issue, but exceptions need to be made because ... these programs are particularly valuable and I will fall on my sword for them.
c) the deficit is an issue, but why cut taxes which will only make it worse? The economy still isn't where it needs to be, so if anything we should be increasing the deficit through more spending (not by cutting taxes). And then when the economy is better, we can balance the budget.

I expect the dem response to fall in bucket b. The more "creative" dems will fall in bucket c. And no dem response in bucket a.

All the Dems have to do is add in what they want and Trump will take the deal...

Ryan and all the fiscal conservatives and "small government!" types he has appointed will let him do that?

$26b is about 1/2 the increase in military spending (not including wars, "intelligence", nukes, vets, etc., etc.).
