The Saker describes the evilness of the US/Anglo Empire. As the empire expands it becomes richer and corrupting people get easier. I often wondered why in vassal states the elites are treacherous and will give away their country's fortune to foreigners, a fortune they could have themselves. Well, the empire will find those that will run the country for them and then pay them handsomely. I believe Tony Blair is somebody who felt that he would do very well by going along with the system.
The standoff between Venezuela and the AngloZionist Empire last week-end has clearly ended in what can only be called a total defeat for Elliott Abrams. While we will never know what was initially planned by the demented minds of the Neocons, what we do know is that nothing critical happened: no invasion, not even any major false flag operation. The most remarkable facet of the standoff is how little effect all the AngloZionist propaganda has had inside Venezuela. There were clashes, including some rather violent ones, across the border, but nothing much happened in the rest of the country. Furthermore, while a few senior officers and a few soldiers did commit treason and join forces with the enemy, the overwhelming majority of the Venezuelan military remained faithful to the Constitution. Finally, it appears that Maduro and his ministers were successful in devising a strategy combining roadblocks, a concert on the Venezuelan side, and the minimal but effective use of riot police to keep the border closed. Most remarkably, “unidentified snipers” did not appear to shoot at both sides (a favorite tactic of the Empire to justify its interventions). I give the credit for this to whatever Venezuelan (or allied) units were in charge of counter-sniper operations along the border.
At the end of the day, this is a typical dialectical problem: the more brutal and overt the US aggression against Latin America is, the more successful coups or even invasions the US organizes, the stronger the anti-Yankee feelings generated among the people of the continent. Think of it this way: the US has already terminally alienated the people of China, Russia and Iran, along with most of the Arab and Muslim world, and thanks to that alienation, the leaders of China, Russia and Iran have enjoyed the support of their people in their struggle against the AngloZionist Empire. Could something very similar not already be happening in Latin America?

In order to take Venezuela, the Empire needs to turn Venezuela’s military against the Maduro government. The Empire has failed in this, despite all the garbage we hear about (non-existent) mass defections from the military.
Trump, Pompeo, and Bolton boast that they have rounded up thousands of Venezuelans in the USA who are loyal to Maduro, and deported them, but they cannot give even one example.
Juan Guaido left Venezuela against court orders, toured several countries in South America, and is now wondering how to get back in without being thrown directly into jail.
The Empire thought that if it lied enough, Venezuela would drop into its hands. This is why every corporate media outlet repeats the same lies in unison. Maduro dictator. Maduro starving his people. Maduro hated by all. Human rights. Humanitarian “intervention.” Blah, blah, blah. None of it has worked. Everyone knows it’s another war for oil.
Meanwhile Venezuelan oligarchs despise Maduro, but they don’t want a US military invasion, since it would cause poor Venezuelans to rise up in fury, and eat them.

“Unidentified snipers” is standard practice for the Empire. The Empire used this trick in Libya and Syria, and during the failed April 2002 coup attempt in Venezuela. The Maduro government was ready for it, having had years to study it in depth.
It’s beginning to look like the regime change project in Venezuela has failed.
Again.

Yes. He who controls the narrative controls the world. The Empire no longer controls the narrative. It no longer controls the mass mind – at least, not enough to get regime change in Venezuela.
One can only hope that if Juan Guaido does reenter the country that he goes directly to jail.
In their twilight years, an Empire’s leaders believe their own lies.
For instance, the Empire has long claimed that Maduro is a “dictator who starves his own people.” Hence the Empire assumed that millions of “starving Venezuelans” would flock to the Colombian and Brazilian borders on Saturday 22 Feb 2019, when the Empire tried to deliver “humanitarian aid” to Venezuelans who were being “starved by the dictator.”
In terms of propaganda, it was a gamble, and it failed miserably. So did Richard Branson’s “Live Aid” concert in Cucuta Colombia.
22 Feb was also the turning point against the Empire’s puppet, Juan Guaido, who spent the following week touring South America begging for help, only to be told, “Sorry. We hate Maduro, but the masses hate Yankee imperialism even more.”
Guaido is starting to look like the proverbial nutcase who sits in a padded cell, shouting at the walls that that he is Napoleon Bonaparte.
Monday 3 March 2019 -- Guaidó returned to Venezuela today, defying the government to arrest him for his crimes. When he landed, he was immediately surrounded at the airport by a protective barrier of senior diplomats from the USA and several other nations.
Pence today threatened “swift response” if Guaidó is arrested for his crimes.
