I came across this in an instruction video yesterday showing you how to put solid tyres on your bike. I thought I would never be able to find out who made it but Shazam bought it up. It's rather nice!
No puntures, and the technology is good so they feel like normal tyres. Tannus. I haven't bought any yet. Some say they are a bit hard, but you can get an 80psi version, which is what I put in my tyres. One guy said his didn't grip well and it scared him, but another guy said the grip excellent. I remain undecided.
My current ride is a 26" mountain bike which I use both on and off road. My worry would be how harsh the ride would be. The current tires are fatter and lower pressure than road bike tires. I don't mind the extra friction because of the versatility of where I can ride.
There's no way of knowing without trying. I cycle on road, but I hate flats. I seemed to get too many, but with my new tyres I've been ok so far. Specialised Armadillo.
The gravel path at the back of my house seems to cause most of the puntures so I walk that bit now.
Anyway, I have these Scrwarb Marathon Plus tyres to try. This guy says they can do light off road as well. They are a slightly heavier tyre but their rolling resistance is extremely low. The tannus tyres are 650g, which is heavy, but that's without inner tubes.
Would you normally be using narrow, high pressure tires? I rarely got flats when I had a hybrid bike, that used medium pressure tires. The mountain tires I'm using now are just 50 psi. I can go two months without checking them.
I saw at 90 psi because because 95 psi was the upper limit its the tyre and I thought higher was best for speed. But the guy at the cycle shop told me to go down to 70 psi which I have and I've had no puntures yet.
I've always used punture proof tyres and apparently they don't grip so well and they are slow with no fun factor. The only time I had regular tyres on my bike was when new but I got too many punctures. Anyway, this hack looks interesting so I might try it and then I can use regular tyres.
The sealant goes hard after a while but I think the Green Slime lasts a year. I Didn't like the Slime much when I used it once years ago but this stuff is different. I was lucky and bought some really cheap on eBay, £3.80 per bottle. It will be interesting to see what lightweight tyres are like.
Yes, it's quite different and rather beautiful. It might be a remix as the other songs by the artist are nothing like it, but I've only listened to two. DJ (Sprite) suggests a remix, maybe. I've asked on YouTube.
I'm glad you liked it. Music is one of those frustrating things where you might adore something but other people find nothing in it. It's usually the case with what I like.
Seems to me that narrow tires are more prone to punctures. Your weight is distributed over a smaller surface area, which has the effect of reducing friction.
I'm starting to believe I've been lucky with flats. I go out with nary a worry about blowing a tire. I should carry sealant just in case.
I've been listening to ambient and before that, techno/trance beats. This song in particular has "grown on me". Each time I listen to it, I enjoy it more.
