The shocking transformation of the UK household diet since 1980 πŸ˜²πŸ” BBC

Who can resist a pizza, or a kebab - especially after the pub!? Oh well, those good old days are over now. I'm getting into the gardening nowadays too, and I look forward to getting decent night's sleep at night not altered by beer.

64% of calories consumed by children in the UK are now from ultra-processed food. Dr Chris Van Tulleken finds out more.

Pizza

Instead of mozzarella cheese, have it with a hard cheese such as parmesan or romano; mix the two if you like. No? How about Greek feta cheese then? Any of those cheeses are better than the lousy mozzarella.

Unless you're making a vegetarian, replace the highly processed pepperoni with another meat: chicken? salmon?

Use fresh vegetables, preferably vegetables that you like. No point adding broccoli if you don't care for it -- there are plenty of other healthy choices. My favourites: fresh tomatoes, peppers, portobello mushrooms, onions, and olives garnished with oregano :)

Kebab (meat)

Just have it with a hearty portion of salad or other greens. That should be a given with all meats.

Beer

In moderation and I bet it's good for you like red wines are in moderation. Which reminds me :) I can't wait to try tonight that new Belgian beer Hoegaarden with some... yeah, some hard cheese :)

I don't like gooey cheese on my pizza. So I eat it cold.
