Ed Miliband and Geoff Lloyd - QE OR NOT QE?: printing money for a purpose

Quite a nice little podcast, I thought, but the show is funded by HSBC.

Fran Boait, from Positive Money, and Josh Ryan-Collins discuss quantitative easing for the people. Now that people have seen that the government can create money and spend it without causing inflation the ice had been broken, they say.

Ed Miliband and Geoff Lloyd said they didn't fully understand everything about quantitative easing for the people despite Geoff having a master's degree in economics. Well, I'm not doing too bad then, it must be this place.

Ed Miliband and Geoff Lloyd - QE OR NOT QE?: printing money for a purpose

Hello! There is occasional bad quality audio on today’s episode for which apologies (tech gremlins). We hope it doesn’t spoil your enjoyment of the finer points of Quantitative Easing! II’s a term thrown around which for many of us falls somewhere between the "Offside Rule" and "Quantum Mechanics". But it’s really important we understand it because it is having big effects. Fran Boait and Josh Ryan-Collins get us up to speed with the basics and explain why it matters, and how we could be putting QE to significantly better purposes.
