M. K. Bhadrakumar — Trump’s Syrian pullout is a game changer
Excellent analysis in my view. It's relatively short and to the point. He points out why Trump's call is the correct on for US interests, surprisingly also including in the endgame to determine the political outcome in Syria. There are simply no other good options. Here DJT turns out to be a better strategist than the experts. It reflects Gen., Michael Flynn's take before he was ousted, which was reversed by Trump's neocon appointments, John Bolton in particular.
Why now? M. K. Bhadrakumar explains how the support for a Kurdistan on Turkey's border crossed a red line for Turkey, and Erdogan's commitment to fight to prevent that changed the situation.
Of course, this doesn't indicate game-over, or the end of US influence in the area, including military. It remains to be seen how that will shake out strategically and situationally.
